On the night of 29 January 1976, Johnny Sands, a country singer driving back from Pahrump on Blue Diamond Road, said a blimp-shaped craft followed him, his engine sputtered, and two figures walked up from the desert. He described them as bald, with gill-like folds, and said they spoke and left. APRO published the interview that year. Other lights were reported over the Las Vegas valley that night; no second person stood with Sands on the shoulder.

Retired automobile salesman Tom Dawson, 63, encountered a circular craft that landed near a pond while walking his dogs. He was paralyzed, along with his dogs and nearby cattle.
