Robert Taylor, a water-board and forestry worker with a clean record, walked into a clearing on Dechmont Law and said he found a dark sphere. Two smaller spiked objects rolled toward him, grabbed his trousers, and he lost consciousness. He came to with a headache, torn trousers, and a story he told first to his wife, then the police. Officers photographed ladder-like tracks in the grass.
Lothian and Borders Police opened an assault file — the only UFO case on the books as a crime. No one was charged. Taylor never sold the story hard. The trousers and the police photographs are in the record.

A retired policeman using the pseudonym Philip Spencer encountered a small green humanoid on the moor, photographed it, and later reported seeing a disc-shaped craft depart. He experienced missing time and underwent hypnosis. The photograph was analyzed and deemed not faked by Kodak labs.

While night fishing on the Basingstoke Canal, 77-year-old Alfred Burtoo saw a disc-shaped object land nearby. Two small humanoid figures in green suits and helmets with black visors approached, gestured for him to follow, and led him aboard. After examining him under a light, they stated he was too old and released him.
