What is on the record
This file is a working record — a report, not a verdict. Official paper, if any, is linked where we have it.
On the night of October 28, 1972, at the Isla de Lobos lighthouse off the Uruguayan coast, Corporal Juan Fuentes Figueroa left his colleagues playing cards to inspect the generators at the base of the 66-meter lighthouse. Approaching the building, he noticed a copper-colored metallic object, approximately 2 meters high and 3-4 meters in diameter, resting on the flat roof. Three small humanoid figures, about 1.5 meters tall, wearing what appeared to be helmets or diving suits, were visible—one on the roof beside the object and two in the process of descending or ascending. Fuentes drew his service pistol but the figures quickly re-entered the craft. The object then emitted multicolored lights (white, yellow, violet), rose vertically with a humming sound, and departed at high speed. The incident was officially reported up the chain of command and investigated by the Uruguayan Air Force, which produced a report concluding there was a high probability the event occurred as described with no conventional explanation.
