A railwayman said two small figures in light suits stood by a dark craft on the cinder path beside the tracks. Police found crushed vegetation.

On the night of 10 September 1954, Marius Dewilde, a railway employee at Quarouble, said his dog barked and he saw two small figures in one-piece suits near a dark object on the path. He said he was paralyzed by a beam, the craft rose, and the figures were gone. Gendarmes found crushed plants and a hard oval impression.
The 1954 French wave produced many such reports. Dewilde’s was taken down the same night by police. It remains a close-encounter claim, not a recovered being. The file is the gendarme notes and what he said he saw.
