GEIPAN, inside the French space agency CNES, is the longest-running official civilian UFO office still at work. It inherited GEPAN (1977) and SEPRA. In 2007 it began publishing case files on the open web: witness forms, photographs, and a classification that includes a D-class — unidentified after investigation.
The desk does not argue for visitors. It argues for a method: take a report, try to identify it, leave a remainder when the identification fails. Trans-en-Provence and other French cases in this catalogue sit in that public drawer. The paper is unclassified because it was built to be read.
