Standing

Unidentified

On the public record, and still open. A claim, paper, or film — not a finding that it was ours, and not a finding that it was not.

Police and air force reports confirmed physical traces on the railroad tracks: five symmetric depressions on three ties consistent with a heavy landed object.

What was claimed

Railway worker Marius Dewilde observed a dark mass on the railroad tracks near his home and two small beings in diving suits. A bright light from the object paralyzed him as they boarded. Police and air force investigators found physical traces on the tracks consistent with a heavy object.

What is on the record

This file is a working record — a report, not a verdict. Official paper, if any, is linked where we have it.

On the night of September 10, 1954, around 10:30 PM, Marius Dewilde, a 33-year-old railway guard at Quarouble, was alerted by his dog's frantic barking. Stepping outside with a flashlight, he saw a dark, cigar-shaped mass resting on the railroad tracks about 6-7 meters away. Two small beings, approximately 1 meter tall, wearing dark diving suits with helmets that obscured their faces, stood nearby. As Dewilde approached, a bright orange light emanated from the object, paralyzing him. The beings entered the craft, which then took off rapidly with a whistle. Dewilde reported the incident to police that night. Commissioner Gouchet and later teams from air police and territorial security investigated. They discovered symmetric indentations on wooden railroad ties suggesting a heavy object (estimated 30 tons) had rested there, along with carbonized stones. Dewilde's flashlight and a nearby transistor radio were found discharged. The case received national press coverage and official scrutiny.

Could this have been ours?

The known sky, that night.

Before Sputnik the known lights were planets, meteors, aircraft, and balloons. No station. No Starlink.

Always

Aircraft, balloons, meteors

Landing lights, flares, lanterns, reentries, fireballs. They are on the known sky. They do not close a file by themselves — they are what a serious look has to hold the claim against.

The known sky

None of the above land

Stations, trains, and planets do not set down in a field or leave a body. This file is a ground report. The known sky still has to be named. It does not answer the claim.
