On the public record, and still open. A claim, paper, or film — not a finding that it was ours, and not a finding that it was not.
GEPAN 1978 report concluding the young witnesses' testimony was sincere and consistent, with corroborating physical traces of scorched vegetation and sulfur odor.
What was claimed
Two children observed four small black humanoid entities near a spherical object hovering above a field. The entities levitated into the craft, which emitted a high-pitched whistle, rose rapidly, and left a sulfur smell and scorched grass. Investigated the same day by gendarmerie and later by GEPAN, which classified it unexplained.
What is on the record
This file is a working record — a report, not a verdict. Official paper, if any, is linked where we have it.
On the morning of 29 August 1967, 13-year-old François Delpeuch and his 9-year-old sister Anne-Marie were tending cows near Cussac, Cantal, when they saw a large spherical object, about 2 meters in diameter, hovering 1 meter above a field. Four small black humanoid figures, roughly 1.2 meters tall with no visible faces or limbs details, were on or near the object. One appeared to be examining the ground or collecting something. When the children called out, the figures quickly levitated or 'floated' back into the sphere through an opening. The object then emitted a loud high-pitched whistling sound, rose vertically at high speed, and disappeared. The children noted a strong sulfur-like odor and an area of scorched or yellowed grass at the site. The local gendarmerie responded the same day, documented the children's consistent statements, noted the odor, and recorded the physical trace. GEPAN later conducted a counter-investigation in 1978, interviewing the now-adult witnesses and a magistrate who concluded there was no evidence of fabrication or hallucination. The case was retained as unexplained in French official archives.
Could this have been ours?
The known sky, that night.
Satellites were already up. The station was not. Starlink was not.
Always
Aircraft, balloons, meteors
Landing lights, flares, lanterns, reentries, fireballs. They are on the known sky. They do not close a file by themselves — they are what a serious look has to hold the claim against.
The known sky
None of the above land
Stations, trains, and planets do not set down in a field or leave a body. This file is a ground report. The known sky still has to be named. It does not answer the claim.
