What was claimed
For weeks in 1975, people around Carman reported a large red-orange light they nicknamed Charlie Red Star. Local papers and later Canadian surveys carried the wave.

In April and May 1975, Bob and Elaine Diemert and then many neighbours around Carman, Manitoba, described a pulsing red or orange light, sometimes with a dome, moving along the treeline and over gravel roads. Nightly watching parties formed. Local papers treated it as news. Later Canadian UFO surveys kept Carman high on Manitoba’s count. No craft was recovered. Explanations ranged from aircraft to something unidentified.
