On the public record, and still open. A claim, paper, or film — not a finding that it was ours, and not a finding that it was not.
Mme. Leboeuf described the being as 'a kid enclosed in a cellophane bag' with a human-like face and large eyes, wearing a transparent suit; the object was a flat disc that rose from the maize field.
What was claimed
Mme. Lucette Leboeuf encountered a small humanoid being in a translucent diving-suit-like outfit near a landed disc-shaped craft while gathering mushrooms. The being approached her before the craft departed.
What is on the record
This file is a working record — a report, not a verdict. Official paper, if any, is linked where we have it.
On the afternoon of September 26, 1954, Mme. Lucette Leboeuf was gathering mushrooms in a field near the woods of the château in Chabeuil. Her dog began barking strangely. She looked up and saw what she first thought was a scarecrow at the edge of a cornfield, only about 2.5 meters away. It was a small being, roughly 1 meter to 1.1 meters tall, enveloped in a transparent cellophane-like or plastic diving suit with a helmet. The face appeared almost human with large, fixed, brilliant, expressive eyes but no visible ears; the vision was blurry through the material. The being stared at her and then moved toward her. Terrified, she screamed, fled, and hid in a bush. Shortly after, she saw a flat, disc-shaped object about 4 meters in diameter, resembling a child's spinning top, rise from the cornfield with a noise and fly away. A circle of crushed vegetation was reportedly found at the site. The case was reported in local press such as Le Provençal and investigated during the 1954 French wave.
Could this have been ours?
The known sky, that night.
Before Sputnik the known lights were planets, meteors, aircraft, and balloons. No station. No Starlink.
Always
Aircraft, balloons, meteors
Landing lights, flares, lanterns, reentries, fireballs. They are on the known sky. They do not close a file by themselves — they are what a serious look has to hold the claim against.
The known sky
None of the above land
Stations, trains, and planets do not set down in a field or leave a body. This file is a ground report. The known sky still has to be named. It does not answer the claim.
