On the public record, and still open. A claim, paper, or film — not a finding that it was ours, and not a finding that it was not.
What was claimed
A photographer on a Brazilian Navy hydrographic ship took four frames of a Saturn-shaped object off Trindade Island.
What is on the record
This file is a working record — a report, not a verdict. Official paper, if any, is linked where we have it.
The NE Almirante Saldanha was finishing an International Geophysical Year cruise at Trindade, a barren Atlantic rock. Late in the morning, deck witnesses shouted. Almiro Baraúna, a civilian photographer aboard, exposed four frames of a flattened, Saturn-like object passing the island. Other sailors and officers said they saw it too.
The Brazilian Navy investigated, printed the photographs, and the story reached the press with official weight unusual for the period. Critics later accused Baraúna of darkroom fakery; supporters note the number of deck witnesses and the Navy chain of custody.
The object in the frames has a pale ring. The island and the sea are sharp. It is one of the few 1950s photographic cases with a military ship’s log attached.
Could this have been ours?
The known sky, that night.

Aircraft, balloons, meteors
Landing lights, flares, lanterns, reentries, fireballs. They are on the known sky. They do not close a file by themselves — they are what a serious look has to hold the claim against.
