On the public record, and still open. A claim, paper, or film — not a finding that it was ours, and not a finding that it was not.

Multiple law-enforcement witnesses reported electromagnetic interference coinciding with close approach of luminous object; Blue Book case remains controversial.

What was claimed

At least a dozen witnesses, including multiple police officers, reported a large glowing egg- or torpedo-shaped object on or near roads. In several cases vehicle engines, headlights, and radios failed as the object approached and restarted after it departed. Investigated by Project Blue Book.

What is on the record

This file is a working record — a report, not a verdict. Official paper, if any, is linked where we have it.

Beginning around 10:50 p.m. on November 2, 1957, numerous motorists near Levelland reported encountering a large, luminous egg-shaped or torpedo-shaped object, often described as 100–200 feet long and glowing blue-green to orange-red. Pedro Saucedo and Joe Salaz were the first; their truck engine and lights died as the object passed overhead with a roar and blast of wind. Over the next several hours, at least ten other independent witnesses, including Sheriff Weir Clem, Deputy Pat McCulloch, and Fire Chief Ray Jones, experienced similar engine and electrical failures when the object was near. In every case the vehicles restarted normally once the object moved away. Project Blue Book investigated but ultimately attributed the events to an electrical storm, despite the lack of reported lightning or thunder.

Could this have been ours?

The known sky, that night.

Satellites were already up. The station was not. Starlink was not.

Always

Aircraft, balloons, meteors

Landing lights, flares, lanterns, reentries, fireballs. They are on the known sky. They do not close a file by themselves — they are what a serious look has to hold the claim against.
