On the night of September 10, 1954, around 10:30 p.m., Marius Dewilde was at his home by the railway crossing in Quarouble when his dog began barking frantically. He went outside with a flashlight and observed a dark mass, approximately 6-7 meters long, resting on or near the railway tracks about 6-7 meters away. He then saw two small beings, estimated at 80-100 cm tall, wearing dark one-piece suits and helmets that reflected his flashlight beam like glass or metal. As he approached, a powerful beam of light from the object struck him, paralyzing him completely. He heard the beings move and a door close, after which the paralysis lifted. The object rose, changed color to orange-red, and sped away toward the southwest. The case received significant press coverage at the time and was investigated by local authorities and ufologists. Dewilde reported a second sighting weeks later.
