What is on the record
This file is a working record — a report, not a verdict. Official paper, if any, is linked where we have it.
Around 2:30 a.m. on December 3, 1967, 22-year-old Ashland Police Sergeant Herbert Schirmer was patrolling near the intersection of Highways 6 and 63 when he spotted what he first thought were red lights on a truck. Upon approach, he saw an oval, metallic object hovering about eight feet above the road with blinking red lights through oval portholes. His patrol car engine and lights failed. A beam of light struck him, causing paralysis. Under later hypnosis conducted in connection with the University of Colorado Condon Committee study, Schirmer recalled humanoid figures about 4.5 to 5 feet tall with grayish-white skin, slanted cat-like eyes, slit mouths, and wearing tight gray uniforms with a winged serpent emblem on the left chest. The beings escorted him aboard the craft, where the leader communicated telepathically, stating they drew electricity from power lines, had bases on Earth, and would return. Schirmer noted the time discrepancy upon returning to the station, where he logged "Saw a flying saucer at the junction of highways 6 and 63. Believe it or not!" A polygraph test was passed, and radiation was reportedly detected at the site.

The known sky
None of the above land
Stations, trains, and planets do not set down in a field or leave a body. This file is a ground report. The known sky still has to be named. It does not answer the claim.
