Certești Police Sergeant Encounter

During the night of July 8 to 9, 1996, around midnight to 12:30 a.m., police sergeant (plutonier) Marian Mancu (age 30, former veterinary technician) and voluntary guardian Marcel Rusu (age 41) were patrolling the main road in the center of Certești village, Galați County, eastern Romania. Mancu briefly stepped away toward his home when he heard a loud noise like a vacuum cleaner or aspirator and felt a strong air current. He saw a flattened-hat or disc-shaped object, about 5-6 meters in diameter and 2-2.5 meters high, hovering and swaying slightly above the road. It emitted rotating colored lights (blue-red, red-green) around a luminous belt and a strong white light from below. Near it was a small humanoid figure about 80 cm to 1 meter tall with an elongated head, large protruding ears, pale face, large eyes, no hair, and thin arms with only two fingers. The being appeared deformed like a deformed newborn or "avorton." Rusu, hiding in a ditch, saw it better and exclaimed it was "Satan." The figure (and reportedly two or three others that Rusu observed circling the object while making gurgling or babbling sounds) entered or disappeared into the object without using a visible door. The object then ascended as a haze or mist and vanished. Other villagers reported TV interference that night, barking dogs, and a bright light. The witnesses were considered credible; the case was documented by Romanian UFO researchers (ASFAN) with interviews and press reports in Evenimentul Zilei. Mancu was reportedly warned by superiors not to speak further.
