Donald Shrum was trapped in a tree by a hovering object and three entities—two humanoids in silver suits and a metallic robot that emitted paralyzing gas—while bow hunting near Cisco Grove.
What was claimed
Bow hunter Donald Shrum became separated from his companions and was approached in a tree by a large glowing object and three entities: two silver-suited humanoids and one robot-like figure that emitted a paralyzing gas.
What is on the record
This file is a working record — a report, not a verdict. Official paper, if any, is linked where we have it.
On September 4, 1964, 28-year-old Donald Shrum was bow-hunting with friends in the Tahoe National Forest near Cisco Grove when he became lost as night fell. He climbed a tall pine tree for safety. A large spherical or glowing object approached and hovered nearby. Three beings then appeared: two humanoid figures in tight-fitting shiny silver suits (approximately 5–6 feet tall) and one shorter robot-like entity (about 3 feet tall, metallic with glowing eyes and a hinged jaw). The entities circled the tree, shook it, and the robot emitted a white vapor or gas that caused drowsiness and unconsciousness. Shrum fought back by lighting fires on branches with his bow and flaming arrows. He remained in the tree overnight until the beings and object departed. One of his companions later corroborated seeing unusual lights in the sky. Shrum reported the incident to authorities, leading to an investigation that included interviews by Air Force personnel.
