Falcon Lake Incident (Michalak Encounter)

On May 20, 1967, Stefan Michalak, a 51-year-old industrial mechanic and amateur prospector, was searching for quartz near Falcon Lake in Manitoba, Canada, when he heard a loud humming noise and saw two glowing red objects descending. One landed on a rocky ledge about 160 feet away while the other flew off. Michalak approached the landed craft, which was disc-shaped, approximately 35–40 feet wide, with a dome and no visible seams. He described a sulfurous smell and heard a hissing sound. As he got closer, a door or panel opened, revealing a bright interior with flashing lights. He attempted to communicate but received no response. Suddenly, a grid-like panel on the side emitted a blast of hot air or gas that struck his chest, igniting his shirt and causing severe burns in a grid pattern. The craft then rose, rotated, and departed. Michalak suffered nausea, dizziness, weight loss, and recurring burns for weeks afterward. His clothing showed burn marks and radioactive contamination above background levels. RCMP, Department of National Defence, and Atomic Energy of Canada Limited investigated extensively, documenting physical evidence, medical records, and soil samples. No conventional explanation was found. The case is considered one of Canada's strongest due to the physical effects on the witness and multiple forms of corroborating evidence.
