On the public record, and still open. A claim, paper, or film — not a finding that it was ours, and not a finding that it was not.

RCMP found five circular swirled grass impressions matching witness description; no hoax evidence; witness reliable.

What was claimed

Farmer Edwin Fuhr observed five metallic, dome-shaped objects hovering and spinning above a field, which departed vertically and left circular swirled impressions in the grass. RCMP investigated and found the witness credible with no evidence of hoax.

What is on the record

This file is a working record — a report, not a verdict. Official paper, if any, is linked where we have it.

On the morning of September 1, 1974, while swathing rape crop on his farm near Langenburg, Saskatchewan, 36-year-old Edwin Fuhr spotted what he first thought was a spun aluminum duck blind. Approaching on foot, he saw a symmetrical bun- or dome-shaped metallic object hovering about a foot above the ground and spinning rapidly, causing the grass beneath it to swirl in a clockwise motion. Frightened, he retreated to his swather and then observed four identical objects arranged in a rough semicircle, all spinning and hovering. After several minutes, the objects ascended in a step-like formation, each emitting a gray vapor or mist from beneath and a strong downward gust of wind that flattened the crop further. They hovered briefly in a straight line before shooting vertically into the low cloud cover and disappearing. Fuhr later found five distinct circular rings of depressed, swirled grass where the objects had been, with the center grass left upright. Cattle in a nearby field had reacted strongly at the same time. The RCMP detachment investigated promptly; Constable Ron Morier examined the site, interviewed Fuhr (deemed reliable and genuinely frightened), photographed the rings, and reported no indication of hoax or human manufacture. Soil and plant samples were taken, and the case became one of Canada's most thoroughly documented landing-trace events.

Could this have been ours?

The known sky, that night.

Satellites were already up. The station was not. Starlink was not.

Landing lights, flares, lanterns, reentries, fireballs. They are on the known sky. They do not close a file by themselves — they are what a serious look has to hold the claim against.
