On January 29, 1976, while driving back to Las Vegas from Pahrump on Blue Diamond Road, country-western singer Johnny Sands spotted a large object shaped like a Goodyear blimp, approximately 60 feet long, hovering at about 1,000 feet. It had a central ring with large portholes and flashing lights. The craft appeared to land or descend, and two humanoid figures approached Sands on foot. They were about 5'7" tall, completely bald with no eyebrows or lashes, and had gill-like structures on the sides of their faces that moved. Dressed in black uniforms with silver accents, they communicated with Sands, asking questions about his occupation and warning him not to discuss the encounter in detail as they knew where he was. The figures then returned to the craft, which departed. Sands reported the incident to APRO and spoke publicly about it, including on radio, providing a consistent account that was documented in ufological publications.
