What was claimed
United Airlines staff at O’Hare described a disc over Gate C17 that shot up through the overcast, leaving a hole in the cloud.
What is on the record
Witness statements from pilots and mechanics are consistent in outline. FAA radar review did not produce a matching target in the public record. A news case, not an official UAP program file.
Around 4:15 p.m. in grey November light, United employees at Gate C17 saw a dark, circular object hanging below the 1,900-foot overcast. It was silent. After a few minutes it rose, punched a clean hole in the cloud, and was gone. The hole filled slowly. Pilots and mechanics added their names. The FAA at first said it had no record, then released an audio tape of a supervisor calling the tower.
The FAA later called it a weather phenomenon. United told employees not to talk. The Chicago Tribune’s Jon Hilkevitch put twelve witnesses on the record. No useful photograph survived; several people had camera phones and still produced nothing the paper could print.
A disk over the world’s busiest airport, seen by aviation professionals, is the file. The hole in the cloud is the detail they all keep.

While photographing an unusual storm, the witness and family saw a disk zoom across the sky at hypersonic speed with no sound. The long-exposure photo captured the metallic disk with a visible trail and possible greenish cloud/wormhole above it.
