Customs and Border Protection infrared sensor video of UAP over Aguadilla.

What was claimed

U.S. Customs and Border Protection aircraft captured long-wave infrared footage of an object that flew over land, split into two, entered the ocean, and exhibited unusual behavior near Rafael Hernandez Airport.

What is on the record

This file is a working record — a report, not a verdict. Official paper, if any, is linked where we have it.

On the night of April 25/26, 2013, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection DHC-8 aircraft equipped with a Wescam MX-15 EO/IR turret was on routine patrol near Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. The crew observed an unidentified object without transponder that posed a potential hazard to air traffic. The aircraft's infrared sensor recorded the object flying at low altitude, crossing over the airport, then heading to the ocean where it appeared to enter the water, split into two objects, and perform maneuvers inconsistent with conventional aircraft or balloons. The footage was later analyzed by the Scientific Coalition for UAP Studies. AARO later assessed the event with high confidence as non-anomalous, likely sky lanterns, though some analysts dispute this. The video has been widely circulated from official sensor data.

Could this have been ours?

The known sky, that night.

The station was flying. Starlink was not. A string of orbs in this year is usually not a train.

A bright, steady moving star. A few minutes to cross. No strobe. Occupied since 2000. NASA publishes the pass times. Not unidentified.

Venus and the bright planets

A fixed brilliant point. Does not streak. Does not hover over a street then leave. Often the first misread light in a rural report.

Always

Aircraft, balloons, meteors

Landing lights, flares, lanterns, reentries, fireballs. They are on the known sky. They do not close a file by themselves — they are what a serious look has to hold the claim against.
