On the night of April 26, 2013, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection DHC-8 aircraft equipped with a Wescam MX-15 EO/IR turret was departing Rafael Hernández Airport in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico when the crew observed and recorded an anomalous object. The infrared footage shows the target maneuvering over land, splitting into two objects, and appearing to enter and exit the water without visible disturbance. The video was later analyzed by independent researchers and reviewed by AARO, which assessed the objects as likely sky lanterns traveling at wind speed with no anomalous transmedium behavior. The footage was publicly released via FOIA and scientific reports.
