On the public record, and still open. A claim, paper, or film — not a finding that it was ours, and not a finding that it was not.
What was claimed
Thousands of people, including gendarmes, reported large silent triangles. F-16s were scrambled. A famous photograph later became disputed.
What is on the record
This file is a working record — a report, not a verdict. Official paper, if any, is linked where we have it.
On the night of 29 November 1989 two gendarmes at Eupen watched a large, silent, triangular platform with lights beneath, moving slowly, then accelerating away. Over the next months the Belgian Society for the Study of Space Phenomena logged thousands of reports. On 30 March 1990 F-16s of the Belgian Air Force were scrambled after ground radar and a gendarme reported a target; the fighters’ radars briefly locked, then lost it. The official report describes lock-ons that behaved unlike known aircraft.
A photograph taken at Petit-Rechain, often used as the face of the wave, was later described by the photographer as a staged image. The gendarme reports and the F-16 radar tape do not depend on that picture.
The wave is a mass of written statements plus a military radar event. The photograph that went around the world is no longer the evidence.
Could this have been ours?
The known sky, that night.
Satellites were already up. The station was not. Starlink was not.

Aircraft, balloons, meteors
Landing lights, flares, lanterns, reentries, fireballs. They are on the known sky. They do not close a file by themselves — they are what a serious look has to hold the claim against.
