On the public record, and still open. A claim, paper, or film — not a finding that it was ours, and not a finding that it was not.
Military report details hundreds of beam attacks causing physical injuries; agents filmed and photographed craft during nightly watches.
What was claimed
Hundreds of residents reported being attacked by beams from low-flying luminous objects, causing burns, paralysis, and puncture wounds. The Brazilian Air Force's Operation Prato documented over 200 sightings, many by military personnel, with photos and films.
What is on the record
This file is a working record — a report, not a verdict. Official paper, if any, is linked where we have it.
Beginning in mid-1977 and peaking through late 1977 into early 1978, residents of Colares and surrounding villages along the Amazon delta reported waves of luminous objects—ranging from small orbs to larger disc- and cigar-shaped craft—approaching at low altitude, often from the sea or rivers. Many witnesses described being targeted by narrow beams of light that caused intense heat, paralysis, puncture-like wounds, radiation-type burns, dizziness, and weakness; local physician Dr. Wellaide Cecim Carvalho treated dozens of such cases. Panic led some villagers to flee. The Brazilian Air Force launched a classified investigation called Operation Prato (Operation Saucer), led by Captain Uyrangê Hollanda. The team of intelligence officers spent months in the area, conducted hundreds of interviews, made over 200 personal sightings, and captured numerous photographs and films of the objects. Many of these were witnessed directly by the military team. The operation's reports and images remained classified for decades but confirm the reality of the anomalous activity and physical effects on civilians.
Could this have been ours?
The known sky, that night.
The station, the trains, and the rest of the known sky were already there. Hold the claim next to them.
1998 —
International Space Station
A bright, steady moving star. A few minutes to cross. No strobe. Occupied since 2000. NASA publishes the pass times. Not unidentified.
2019 —
Starlink trains
A line of equally spaced lights after a launch. The most common string of orbs in current reports. A satellite deployment, not a formation of craft.
Always
Venus and the bright planets
A fixed brilliant point. Does not streak. Does not hover over a street then leave. Often the first misread light in a rural report.
Always
Aircraft, balloons, meteors
Landing lights, flares, lanterns, reentries, fireballs. They are on the known sky. They do not close a file by themselves — they are what a serious look has to hold the claim against.
