On 13 August 2026, about an hour before sunset, a person fishing near the southern end of Ocracoke Island, North Carolina, reported a solid, off-white rectangular-conical object high in the eastern sky. NUFORC published the first-person account with its late-summer milestone files.

A couple observed a very large (300-400 ft) object with multiple lights moving from north to south. Smaller lights disappeared, middle lights flashed white and red, it hovered over the tree line then dropped behind it. Video was recorded.
