Standing
Unidentified
On the public record, and still open. A claim, paper, or film — not a finding that it was ours, and not a finding that it was not.
Gendarmerie procès-verbal describes the craft, humanoids, paralysis effect, and symmetrical ground traces photographed on site.
What was claimed
Farmer Maurice Masse observed a landed egg-shaped craft and two small humanoid beings in his lavender field. He was paralyzed by a device they pointed at him; the beings examined plants before departing. A star-shaped ground trace remained.
What is on the record
This file is a working record — a report, not a verdict. Official paper, if any, is linked where we have it.
At approximately 5:45 a.m. on July 1, 1965, farmer Maurice Masse was preparing to work in his lavender field near Valensole when he heard a whistling sound. He saw an egg-shaped or rugby-ball-like object, about the size of a small car, resting on six legs with a central pivot. Two small humanoid figures, roughly 1 meter tall, wearing gray-green one-piece suits, were standing nearby examining the lavender plants. They had large heads, smooth white skin, and large slanted eyes. When Masse approached within about 7 meters, one being pointed a small tube-like object at him, instantly paralyzing him. He remained conscious but unable to move while the beings made gurgling sounds, finished their task, re-entered the craft, and it rose vertically before accelerating away at high speed. Masse regained mobility after about 15 minutes. The gendarmerie investigated promptly, documenting a star-shaped impression in the soil with a central hole and noting the ground had become unusually hard. The case was reported in official police records and later reviewed by GEIPAN.

Always
Aircraft, balloons, meteors
Landing lights, flares, lanterns, reentries, fireballs. They are on the known sky. They do not close a file by themselves — they are what a serious look has to hold the claim against.
The known sky
None of the above land
Stations, trains, and planets do not set down in a field or leave a body. This file is a ground report. The known sky still has to be named. It does not answer the claim.
