On the public record, and still open. A claim, paper, or film — not a finding that it was ours, and not a finding that it was not.
Mother and son witness three lights in triangle formation moving slowly while maintaining positions; video recorded; likely lanterns per analysis but reported as noteworthy.
What was claimed
Two witnesses (mother and son) observed three points of light in a triangular formation moving slowly and smoothly across the western sky while maintaining relative positions. The mother began recording video shortly after noticing them.
What is on the record
This file is a working record — a report, not a verdict. Official paper, if any, is linked where we have it.
On August 23, 2026, at approximately 22:01 BST in Wolverhampton, UK, a mother first noticed three lights while letting the dog out and immediately started recording video. Her son soon joined her outside and observed the lights with his own eyes. The three separate points of light were arranged in a triangular formation and moved slowly and smoothly from right to left (north to south) across the western sky. The witnesses were particularly struck by how the lights appeared to maintain their relative positions as they traveled. The video was later analyzed on Metabunk, where it was suggested the lights were likely Chinese lanterns drifting on the wind, though the initial report describes a striking and orderly formation.
Could this have been ours?
The known sky, that night.
The station, the trains, and the rest of the known sky were already there. Hold the claim next to them.

Aircraft, balloons, meteors
Landing lights, flares, lanterns, reentries, fireballs. They are on the known sky. They do not close a file by themselves — they are what a serious look has to hold the claim against.
