Official Air Force statements and radar logs confirm pursuit of high-performance unidentified objects by interceptors.

What was claimed

Radar detected 21+ unidentified objects across southeastern Brazil. Multiple pilots (civilian and military) and ground observers, including 2,000+ at an air base, reported luminous objects. Brazilian Air Force scrambled five jets (F-5E and Mirages) for interception. Objects exhibited extreme speeds (up to 11,500 mph) and maneuvers. What is on the record

This file is a working record — a report, not a verdict. Official paper, if any, is linked where we have it.

On the night of May 19, 1986, air traffic control radar at São José dos Campos detected multiple unidentified targets. Over the following hours, bright objects were visually observed and tracked by radar across São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, and Goiás states. At least 21 objects were recorded by the Integrated Center for Air Defense and Air Traffic Control. Commercial pilots reported the objects maneuvering near their aircraft. The Brazilian Air Force scrambled five interceptor jets from two bases. Pilots, including Lt. Valdir Tosta Coelho, described pursuing lights that changed direction instantly, accelerated to extraordinary speeds, and sometimes split into multiple targets. Ground witnesses included hundreds of military personnel at the School of Aeronautical Specialists. The Minister of Aeronautics, Brigadier Octavio Moreira Lima, held a press conference confirming the events, the scrambles, and that the objects were not conventional aircraft. Radar, visual, and pilot reports provided strong multi-sensor documentation.

Could this have been ours?

The known sky, that night.

Satellites were already up. The station was not. Starlink was not.

Always

Venus and the bright planets

A fixed brilliant point. Does not streak. Does not hover over a street then leave. Often the first misread light in a rural report.

Always

Aircraft, balloons, meteors

Landing lights, flares, lanterns, reentries, fireballs. They are on the known sky. They do not close a file by themselves — they are what a serious look has to hold the claim against.
