GEIPAN, a unit of the French space agency CNES, collects, analyzes, and archives reports of unidentified aerospace phenomena. Its methodology includes receipt of testimony, initial analysis, in-depth investigation with partners such as the Gendarmerie and Météo-France, classification, and public archiving with witness anonymity. As of recent statistics, approximately 28% of cases are perfectly identified (A), 39% probably identified (B), 30% lack sufficient data (C), and about 3% remain unidentified after full investigation (D). The group emphasizes scientific rigor, uses only verified knowledge, and publishes all investigated cases on its website. No evidence of extraterrestrial origin has been found; most phenomena are attributable to aircraft, balloons, satellites, meteors, or atmospheric effects. The program promotes public information and transparency.
