Chaired by Rep. J. Edward Roush, the one-day hearing allowed scientists such as Dr. J. Allen Hynek (Project Blue Book consultant), Dr. James E. McDonald, Dr. Carl Sagan, and others to testify and answer questions from committee members. Presentations covered observational data, radar cases, photographic evidence, and the limitations of existing explanations. Several witnesses argued that the subject warranted greater scientific resources and that the Condon Committee study might be too narrowly focused. The record consists of prepared statements, oral testimony, and discussion; it does not endorse any extraterrestrial conclusion but highlights the gap between public interest and official scientific attention.
