In 2020, answering questions in the Diet, Japan’s Ministry of Defense said it would establish procedures for Self-Defense Forces aircrew to report unidentified aerial objects, in light of the U.S. Navy’s public UAP work. The ministry did not release a cache of Japanese cases. It released a policy: if something unidentified is seen, it should be written down.
That is a document of a kind. An allied air force decided that silence was no longer the procedure. The paper is unclassified parliamentary record, not a sighting.
